Program Philosophy Regarding Junior Olympics

Sacramento Water Polo is committed to placing as highly as possible in the USA WP National Junior Olympic Championship Tournament.  SWP is also committed to make the USA WP NJO experience a positive one for the athletes selected to represent SWP during the USA WP NJO Championship Tournament.

The following information is provided so that athletes and parents are aware of the expectations / level of commitment in order to participate
  1. Participation in USA WP JO's is separate from the Summer Session and there will be an additional fee.  The JO team participation fee will range from $250 - $400 excluding travel and meals.  Athletes staying in a team room pay a higher fee than those athletes that room with their parents during JO's.
  2. Our USA WP Junior Olympic rosters will be named within 48 hours of the conclusion of the JO Qualifying Tournament. A $200 non-refundable deposit must be paid immediately in order to secure the athletes roster spot. (This deposit will be applied to estimate mentioned in #1).  This will prevent athletes from backing out of the USA Water Polo National Junior Olympic Tournament at the last minute and demonstrates commitment to the program.
  3. Expectations are significantly higher for Sacramento Water Polo JO athletes in terms of practice attendance, tournament participation, etc.
  4. The team participation fee is exclusive of any additional expenses for parent hotel rooms, food, etc.  All athletes that stay in team rooms will share the cost of that room.
  5. JO athletes will pay for the coaches hotel room, coach per diem, and tournament entry fees.  (See item #1: team participation fee.)  Sac Polo will place a minimum of two coaches on each team during the USA WP JO Tournament.
  6. Athletes are strongly encouraged to participate in the Sacramento Water Polo Spring Session.
  7. Athletes must be registered in the Sacramento Water Polo Summer Session.
  8. Athletes must be registered with USA WP as a Gold Athlete (Club #630) prior to May 31st.  USA WP will not accept athlete membership changes after May 31st.
  9. Athletes are strongly encouraged to participate in the NorCal Cup. Our Junior Olympic Qualifying Tournament team(s) will be selected at the conclusion of the Spring Session and the NorCal Cup tournament.
  10. Athletes must attend the Central California Zone Junior Olympic Qualifying Tournament.  (dates / sites posted below)
  11. 15 athletes per team will be named to the Sacramento Water Polo USA WP National Junior Olympics rosters.
