Sac Water Polo athletes are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to participate in the Cal Cup if they plan on trying out for a SWP JO team!
Our goal is to advance as many of our Sac Polo teams as possible to the US Club Championships. The 1st step in that process is to finish in the top 6 during the Northern California Cal Cup Tournament.
Sacramento Water Polo Athletes: Your individual participation in Cal Cup will provide you the opportunity to improve your skills during meaningful competition that it is intended and designed to provide opportunities for team and individual growth. The Sacramento Water Polo coaching staff is continually evaluating and discussing how we can be as competitive as possible. We are always open to constructive feedback and are more than willing to discuss your individual areas for growth. Remember this: We can name 15 players to a team for our Junior Olympic rosters. If you are interested in participating in Junior Olympics this summer - - you are strongly encouraged to be participating in Cal Cup. Requirements for Cal Cup participation: 1. Be enrolled in the Spring Session. 2. Be registered as a Gold athlete with USA Water Polo - - as a member of Sacramento Water Polo. (Club #630) 3. Unless participating in an important swim meet with your high school team: Attend all Saturday scrimmages / practices / evaluations at Sierra College. 4. Participate in all of the tournament competition dates with your team - - listed below. 2012 Cost: $150 for Cal Cup participation. Additional fee if any of our teams advance to State Cup. Additional fee if any of our teams advance to US Club Championships. 2012 Divisions will be GRADE BASED: 11th/12th Grade, 9th/10th Grade, 7th/8th Grade, and 5th/6th Grade. Two-thirds of the team roster must be in that grade division. Example: Ten of the 15 boys on the 12th Grade Division team must be in the 11th/12th grade. 2012 Cal Cup Dates: See the Sac Polo calendar. Specifics will be added as soon as we get them. (Game times, pool sites, etc.) 2012 State Cup Dates: Additional fee for particiaption in State Cup. Must qualify for State Cup through Cal Cup competition. 6th / 8th grade in So Cal. 10th / 12th grade in Nor Cal. See the Sac Polo calendar for dates. Specifics will be added as soon as we get them.
